If it doesn't snow on Christmas
This song is my Christmas Happy Shiny. It's an old 1949 recording of Gene Autry's song "If it Doesn't Snow on Christmas". It reminds me of my granny and the warm and loving house that we grew up in. It reminds me of the smell of the fire place in the front room and that metallic cheesy garland that was everywhere. It also makes me remember the feeling of that brown carpet that she was so proud of against my cheek when taking a nap in the sun spot when I was teeny. On this same album is Gene Autry's 1949 recording of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". It had a skip at a certain point on the record.. and still to this day I still listen for it and am almost sad when it's not there in every recording.
Tell me, what is YOUR favorite Christmas song? Post a YouTube link if you can find one. :) Current Mood: nostalgic
My happy shiny today, is waking up and knowing that I no longer have congestive heart failure.
Just knowing that I beat something that I was told I would not be able to beat., makes me feel like I can conquer the world.
Today's happyshiny is taking a walk in the brisk Autumn morning, crunching leaves beneath my feet. The smell of fires in fireplaces makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Christmas is nigh. Current Mood: happy
I don't think there's anything more sweet than my cats having to be in the same room I am. Or even better, one of them has to be touching me at all times. The idea of conditional love doesn't exist in their minds. We have a lot to learn from them.
As mad as I get at my cats sometimes.. they're my all the time happy shiny. :D Current Mood: loved
Today, my happy came from being awake when the sun rose and smelling the soft sweet morning air as the sun first hit it.
The trees lit up, the birds started shaking the dew off the tree next to the balcony... If I were in a Disney movie, I would have started twirling around and singing with the mice, birds and squirrels.
My shiny came from taking a big ol' nap directly afterwards. Ahh... *stretch*
Sort of like the reverse of this song. hehehe.
I am so incredibly grateful for my friends. The ones that have been there through bad and good. Even the ones that are just around for the good times.. everyone has their purpose. I don't think I could have chosen a better bunch of people to have in my life.. they all chose me in one way or another :)
And Andrea, I can't tell you how much it meant to me that you started the happy_shiny grassroots movement.. Ninja and all! :D
I love you guys in all of your quirky, fun-loving, happy_shiny ways. Current Mood: loved

Hello Happy Shiny People!
I'd like to say welcome and thank you for dropping by and sharing your happiness with everyone. I am really looking forward to bringing more positive energy into my life, as I'm sure you all are. Pull up a chair.. tell us what makes you happy in your life. What went right today?
I moved to Colorado this past March from Arizona where I lived for 3 years. Colorado has been such a breath of fresh air. Literally. It is so beautiful here. Longmont is full of friendly people, and I've met so many of them lately. This move was probably one of the best things that I've ever done, aside from marrying my husband that is. ;) So what makes me happy? Colorado. Easily my favorite place in the entire world.
